Dutch decal sets 72047 in 1/72 and 48031 in 1/48 scale. Thunderstreaks
When the Royal Netherlands AF team DASH-4 won a competition held at
Volkel airbase in 1958 with the Republic
F-84F Thunderstreak and after that won the NATO competition at Soesterberg,,
they were invited to come to the USA. From April 12 to 19, 1959 in Las
Vegas a demo was given. During on the training flights unfortunately a
collision caused by a gust wind resulted in the loss of one aircraft with
the pilot Veenhuyzen using the ejection seat and pilot Van der Meulen
Kunee landing the other damaged aircraft successfully. The USAF offered
the F-84F as a replacement and the aircraft were painted with orange stripes
and blue Dash-4 markings. The demo was flown successfully at the show.
Six Dutch roundels, the stencilling , the orange-wit striping and markings
are fully provided of DASH-4 on this decalsheet.
Set 72046: Beaver RNethAF; Lockheed Hercules '55
jaar 334 Sqn.' RNethAF.
The 55th aniversary of the RNLAF 334 squadron was also celebrated by
painting the tail of Hercules G-275 with the Pegasus horse. The special
markings are privided, but you need set 72025 for the full markings.
Also, the set gives markings for the RNLAF De Havilland Canada
L-20A Beaver. The set also provides roundels and the full stencilling.
Squadron emblems provided are 334 and 322/323.
Set 48030: Beaver RNethAF; RNeth.Navy Sikorsky S-55;
Piper
Super Cub
RNethAF; L-4 Grasshopper RNeth EIAF.
The Beaver markings are similar to the set 72046, but limited to regi's
S-4, 5, 7 en 8
Also the Glossy Sea Blue MLD Sikorsky HSO4S-3 is on this set with the
name
Cleopatra with regi 077 and the letter V. A full set with details is
included.
Piper Cub markings are also on this set, with a yellow 298 squadron
regi 8A-30 plane and the camouflaged plane 5G-67 of 299 sqn.
Also markings of a Piper L-4 of the Dutch East Indies AF are provided,
with the flags and registration R3 45.
Set 48032: Supermarine Spitfire LF.Mk.IX, 322 Sqn.; Spitfire
FR.XIV; Spitfire
PR.Mk.XI; LSK "postwar".
This set is fully dedicated to the Spitfire. Aluminium plane registrations
of Dutch AF
322 sqn. are provided. It comes with roundels, flashes and also the
RAF registrations. Also the PRU Blue Spitfire
PR Mk.XI PL9565 is provided as is Spitfire FR.XIVe MT853. Only the
registrations are provided of these last two Spits.
MPM issued a brand new kit of the Douglas DC-2 in 1/72 scale. So, Cloudmaster
decals (part of Dutch Decals) issued a special set dedicated to the DC-2.
Set no 72/15 " KLM KNILM DC-2/3"
has decals for both the DC-2 as the DC-3.
A lot of different versions can be made, with the famous KLM Uiver
PH-AJU "44" of the London-Melbourne race, but also the KLM Edelvalk
PH-ALE, Jan van Gent PH-ALJ and the Haan PH-AKH. Big HOLLAND
markings in black are also provided. Also the Fokker demoplane is provided,
the PH-FOK with the Fokker-Douglas logo's.
The Luftwaffe captured DC-2 Toekan with an overall "Dunkelgrun"
scheme of the befehlhaber der Niederlande Christiaansen is also on
this sheet. Of the KLM East Indies section, the KNILM DC-2 registrations
PK-AFK en PK-AFJ are included.
A nice touch are the decals provided of the window curtains and the
Dutch flags.
This set gives various possibilities to build any of the flown DC-2
and DC-3 by combining numbers and letters.
