The "De Havilland" DH-84 Dragon was developed as a transport/passenger aircraft in the nineteen thirties by the famous Geoffrey De Havilland. It flew first March 1932. It had a simple, light design with a plywood box fuselage using the same type of engine and similar outer wing sections of the earlier single-engined aircraft. Capable of carrying 6 passengers it saw worldwide use in many roles. About 200 aircraft were produced in both Great Britain as during the war in Australia.

The DH-89 Dragon Rapide was an airliner for 6-8 passengers and faster than the Dragon. It used many common components of the Dragon and first flew in 1934. Over 700 Daron Rapides were built. The military version was called the Dominie and was used for passenger transport and communication duties.

Aircraft of this family are still flown by enthusiasts.
