The Vickers Varsity was a twin engined crew trainer and was developed based on the Viking and Valetta for the British Air Ministry to be used by the RAF. The Varsity first flew July 1949. It was used for training pilots, radio operators, navigators and bomb aimers.
Varsity T.1
This Varsity T.1 coded WL679 was used for mostly research by the RAE. It has thus a special configuration. It first flew September 1953 and was used some 38 years by RAE until 1991. It is on display at the RAF museum at Cosford.
